John Deere 2010 clutch disc

Hey I’m 15 years old and recently got a 2010,first I put new seals/bearings in the front end and the pto lever seemed froze so I pull the rock shaft housing off and took apart the pto clutch to find the disc are in very bad shape so if anyone has GOOD used one or know of aftermarket ones I’d be interested in buying them so please let me know, yes I know John Deere has them but just for the throw out bearing and disc will be like $705 and not really wanting to spend that much right now like I said if anyone has some GOOD used ones or know of someone or somewhere please let me know

I would start calling salvage yards, I'm sure there are a few that have ended up there. I know my brother sold his to All States a few years ago. Good luck, sometimes new parts just aren't affordable. Bob.

IF you can get them. I waited 8 days for local JD dealer to call me back on a part for my 1020. Bought elsewhere.

All States Ag Parts is now called PartsASAP and is the parent company of Yesterday's Tractor Co. They operate several salvage yards. It is best to get a phone number from their web site and call them when looking for used parts, many are not listed online due to changing inventory of salvage tractors. Calling is best for most salvage yards.

It can help if you use part numbers in your searches. If you don't have it below is a link to the 2010 parts catalog at the online JD parts catalogs. Use it to find a part and it will give you the part number and the name JD used for it.

Hello Ty, welcome to YT! Were you able to navigate the JD parts site? Surely not a problem for a 15 year old! LOL, the old guys that often show up here often have let’s say computer challenges. The part number for the lined clutch plates with the inside spline teeth is T23609. As I am sure you found on the web there is a lot of new ones available for $150 a piece, not so much for availability of used. Where you are located might be helpful but not necessarily since these smaller parts ship fairly inexpensively. In the Midwest a couple large used tractor salvage yards are Abilene Machine in KS and Worthington Ag parts in MN.
Clean up the steel plates with the outer lug tangs with a power wire wheel and also the face of the pressure plate and post photos of them so we can assess how useable they are. I don’t know the exact configuration of a 2010 but is this clutch up behind the engine? If so wonder what the main engine clutch looks like? Is this tractor running and does the transmission clutch operated by the pedal work correctly? It looks to me like maybe this tractor has been in a flood. Maybe this PTO clutch sets in the back of the tractor and may explain why you are saying you removed the “rock shaft”

Yes, the PTO clutch "lives" in a "dry" chamber in the rear housing beneath the 3-point mechanism.

I would GUESS the drain hole must have gotten clogged and rain water built up in there to rust the clutch so badly.

I've worked on a few, and usually IMHE it's the opposite situation, an oily mess in there from leaked hydraulic/transmission and PTO oil!

I have parts and pieces of a JD 1010 so I might have what your needing but I'd have to go out and look to be sure I think the PTO parts are still on it

Before you do a lot of hunting, check the parts catalogs, I believe the two PTOs are different, from what I see.

Don't know I do know many prats of the 1010 and 2010 are the same but right now even if I had the parts I cannot do anything to look at or pull due to having out patient surgery yesterday and having injection in my spine

A simple part number search on the JD parts catalogs site shows the three main parts (pressure plate , frictions, and steel discs) specific to the 2010 only. So unfortunately, the young man's options will be limited as far as checking for other models that used those.

Ty_linenbroker,

What is your general location (not your specific address)? Sometimes, someone might know of a place to check near you that is not on the "radar" like the big places.

The 1010 and 2010 setups have nothing in common but the name,PTO.The 2010 has it's own compartment,on the rear, and should have no way to get moisture in it.I'd clean everything up,and look around for some fiber discs. The steel parts are not critical like an engine clutch.
