Felling A Tree

Short video cutting down a tree in one of our hay fields. This field has several large trees in the middle of it that make cutting, raking and baling hay an obstacle course - so they are coming out.

Enjoy!

Good video and good music! Thanks for posting.....

Not wearing hearing protection in my younger days of cutting firewood, definitely contributed to my loss of hearing now. But we thought we were bullet proof and could leap tall building's in a single bound. Those were the days. I enjoyed the video, love it when the tree goes where you thought it would go. gobble

Only thing I would do different is rather than dozing them out is have them ground out no big hole left to fill and no stump either. I had a big Oak ground out a few years ago an it has worked great no hole and the dirt stayed right there. We work right over the spot with no problems. I would not bother with dozing out stumps anymore. Now maybe in 15or 20 years when the wood rots out there might be a depression left not sure. I'm know I'm not hauling dirt in to fill the hole though either. Dad says just let them rot out .Oak would be forty or more years rotting out. Basswood or Hicory will rot out in 5or 10 so not so bad to let them rot out if you don't need them out right away for a lawn or such. Burning them takes a lot of time and work also.
