Front hydraulic drive shaft

I have a 59 ford 851 diesel. The hydraulic driveshaft has a hub that attaches to the crank pulley. Does that hub come off of the shaft? If it does how does it come off? It almost has to! Anyway the hub has some rubber bushings in it that need replaced. Or can I just replace the bushings instead of the whole hub?

They used a splined shaft that would be easy to tell and a threaded shaft that screws into a drive hub that fits into 4 holes that use rubber bushings. The shaft uses left hand treads and screws out of the hub. You can replace the rubber bushings id all the other parts are not worn. Then there is another that uses a morflex coupler I have never had to deal with that one.

They used a splined shaft that would be easy to tell and a threaded shaft that screws into a drive hub that fits into 4 holes that use rubber bushings. The shaft uses left hand treads and screws out of the hub. You can replace the rubber bushings id all the other parts are not worn. Then there is another that uses a morflex coupler I have never had to deal with that one.

The same 4 bolts that fasten hub also holds double pulley on . From pics looks as if front support has to come off.

If it uses a LH threaded driveshaft the hub would be tapped all the way through I hope you can look at the back side of the hub and tell. Either way before I took the axle support off I would have to give it a try.

I have not been able to locate your set up I have never liked that type of set up when I ran across it I changed it over to a spline shaft set up Something like this are what YT has. Its just money : (

Behind the hub there are no threads on the shaft and I don’t see any set screws on the hub itself. It didn’t look, or feel, like there were any splines on the hub or shaft. If there were how would the hub be retained on the shaft? Would it just be loose on the shaft? It looks to me like the shaft runs through a hole in the support so idk how it would come out of the support. The front hub looked like it was part of the shaft also. It would really be nice to just replace the bushings. If I could find them.

Just curious, is this for a loader? If so what brand/model? The normal Ford loader does it differently - splined hub, shaft, Morflex coupler with coupler flanges.

Cool, I still think that shaft is threaded and the shaft threads flush with the back side of the hub.
