Nice tractor Joe. And welcome to YT. Once you get the feel for this site, you may find that if it is specific to a brand, the guru's for those brands can be found hanging in the Brand Forums, further down the list. But this Topic area is far and away the most popular. Again, welcome aboard. steve

Welcome.

Looks good. I would say your 5-digit serial number would make it a straight 40, in the 1968 build year. The 40B serial number list on TractorData starts with 9A 250640 in 1976.

I think your is a 40 instead of a 40B these are the serial numbers for the 40B and the B has the 4 cylinder perkins the 40 had the 3 cylinder but they are good tractors

I Have a Massey Ferguson 165 (Industrial/orchard Model I Think) With a Cab, (I Think The 3PT Can Pick Up about 3000 lb, It Has a MF35 loader(I Think It Can Pick Up About 2500lb). It Looks Very Similar To Yours. It Has a AD4 203 Perkins Diesel (4 Cylinder) 58 HP. I got It For $800. I,m planing On Rebuilding It This Coming Spring. The Hydraulic Hoses Leak Bad :(. In The Pictures I Had The Front Tires Off To Change The Wheel Bearings. It a 74

Yes, I chuck it up in my valve grinding machine and grind them flat. If you don't have a machine its a fast operation for someone who does. Warning it will come out of the holder so make sure its tight. Is your block drilled so while you are adjusting the lifter you can hold it with a punch.

Actually after further research I'm pretty sure mine is a 1974 MF30.🙃
