John Deere disc part needed

Looking for a part for my John Deere JBA disc. I need the ribbed spool part number KK4217B. Has anyone seen a salvage yard with a JBA disc, or have this disc in the back lot and would sell parts? Thanks DonO

I don't know if the yards operated by the hosts of this site have anything that old, but you can try. https://www.tractorpartsasap.com/ More likely to have it would by Fry's Machinery in Pennsdale, PA.

Correct part # for that spool is KK4217BW. I checked Parts Depot & there was no KK4217BW in stock.

Agri Supply probably sells one that will fit. Is it just a spacer or a bearing?

I was going to say if it is just the spacer sool Any one with the same length will work for that. IF just worn lengthways from runnig it loose I just cut old blades off in diameter then slide them on as needed to even out the spacing between blades and keep the bearing alignment correct for the bolting back on.

KK4217BW serves as a white iron bearing in conjunction as being a disk spacer. Not just any spacer can be used in it's location.

This is an Amish shop that specializes in parts and rebuilding for the KBA disks. Your part was also used on KBA so they may have something. Groffdale also makes parts to convert the KBA to modern sealed bearings. If all the white iron parts are the same between the two, should also work in a JBA.

Worst case, you can adapt something from common parts. Complete generic spool bearing assemblies can be purchased fairly inexpensively. You might have to replace both on a gang to make it work, but you can make it work.

80 year old piece of equipment, maybe-maybe several dozen to a few hundred still around in good enough shape to use, (vs THOUSANDS of tractors by the way). Nobody's going to be making parts for them.

I spent some time in the large local salvage yard looking for other spool pieces that I might use to cobble some thing together, the biggest drawback was trying to find a spool with the 7/8" square hole. Everything I found had a larger square hole!

Thanks for the tip about Agri-supply, they don't have the exact one I need, but they sell one that could be used to cobble something together! I'll try searching a bit longer for a salvage part, and Agri-Supply can be my plan B. Thanks to Everyone!
