Suggestions on tractor step?

I know this thread is 9 years old but I am looking to acquire a step like Fred Werring posted above. Can someone tell where I might find one something else that is available.

I have 68’ Ford 3000 3cyl. diesel and this what I want to add the step to.

Fred still posts here. You might try messaging him direct on here. Click the envelope above on the right then start a new conversation. Type his name in and message away.

Welcome to the forums.

I am guessing you are looking for a step for an AC tractor (it helps if you give all the info when you want something) as Fred often posts about one.

If so I am guessing, he got a step from Mike Noonan who was/is a poster on the unofficial AC Forum. Mike sold his step business to A&W Tractor a couple years ago. You should contact A&W.

I'm real pleased with the '69 Ford 4000 I recently acquired; only problem is I can't get on the thing. The step is about 24" off the ground, much too high for an old fat guy with bad knees. I can barely lift my foot that high anyhow, and I don't have enough grunt left to push myself up. I considered a stirrup hanging from a chain, but that proved to be a bad idea. I figure I can come off the step bracket with something, but I haven't come up with a design. Any ideas?

Watching the process was my little Pom, Roxie, who is now recovered from her broken leg and has received her summer haircut. I asked her if she had any suggestions, and she said, "I got nothin', Jerry."

Here's what worked for me.

This was from my post in 2017.

A big thanks to Kansas4010. I ordered the side step (series 3 tractor step) from JD (The JD part # is LVU18332). The price at my dealer was $18.78. I bolted a 19" piece of angle on the bottom and used 3/8" carriage bolts to bolt it in place (2 in the step). It's rock solid. This made a 10" step from the ground to the step, then 6" to get into the cab. This step is 10 1/4" wide. I ordered two more. One for the other side and one for my JD 2030.

Thanks for that. I am going to look at getting on. Short legged guy here as well. I looked the running board for the 5000 but I don’t think it is a good fit as the mounting points seem yo be different.

That step is on a Belgium built 1969 4000, has the wide running board /foot platforms on it. It came that way.

Messicks has the step, but not the mounting bracket. Look at numbers 29 and 30 in the parts link.

Good luck

Messicks step
