Beautiful pictures, brings back memories of when we milked cows back in the 50's and 60's. Best day of my life, when dad sold the cows, August of 68.

Vince at mnbricks has an inside view of a poured top. Probably done with masonry layed over falsework on inside scaffold.
Once cured the concrete was placed outside.

Courthouse and cathedral domes were done similarly. Some having a dome inside the veneer dome we see outside.

Thanks. I had no idea... always assumed the tops were somehow lifted into place.

This is the farm I grew up on, taken circa 1960. We had a very similar silo. Morning chores before school involved climbing up and pitching down the daily ration of corn silage for the beef critters. I can still smell it.
