Beautiful pictures, brings back memories of when we milked cows back in the 50's and 60's. Best day of my life, when dad sold the cows, August of 68.

On YouTube there is a minesotabricks channel and one of them is of them bricking a dome roof with no supports just brick and mortar.

Fantastic silo and barns!!

How in the world did they get a concrete cover up there, back in the day???
Scaffold, buckets, and well wheel
db,
You mean they built the top on? Interesting.
correct.
Vince at mnbricks has an inside view of a poured top. Probably done with masonry layed over falsework on inside scaffold.
Once cured the concrete was placed outside.

Courthouse and cathedral domes were done similarly. Some having a dome inside the veneer dome we see outside.

Thanks. I had no idea... always assumed the tops were somehow lifted into place.
