6 bolt rim - replacement bolts?

I’m hopefully going to swap good rims onto the centers on my 9N soon. The old rims are crusty and I’m not sure the bolts holding the rim to the center will come apart in one piece. What’s a decent replacement for these bolts? Any reason I can’t use a hex bolt instead of the square bolts that it has now?

By square bolts do you mean carriage bolts?
You can buy carriage bolts at most hardware stores, Fleet Farm, Menards etc.

I didn’t get a picture, but the bolts on mine actually have a square head. The nuts on the back side are normal hex bolts. I’m wondering if maybe it’s just “whatever was lying around” when those rims were put on. A square head bolt would be marginally more convenient to install as the head would sit against the inside of the rim keeping the bolt from spinning while you put the nut on, but I don’t think that convenience is worth having to special order them unless there’s some other reason I’m missing.

Carriage bolts are square behind the ronded head. The right size carraige bolt will fit in the square of the rim.

They're supposed to be a 5/8 grade five, fine thread carriage bolt.
The ones at the places I suggested will be grade two, coarse thread but entirely suitable.
But if the square heads you have are reuseable I would clean and reuse those.
I like seeing "whatever was lying around” stuff reused on an old tractor.

2-5/8" oem hat rim

There is a difference in length for hat rims loop bolts are just a tad longer @ 2-3/4" I keep the 2-3/4" on the shelf and use them on both types. The Number for 2-3/4 is 370938S36 fits NAA and up.
