Non stuck engine

Have a M Farmall that I purchased 6+ years ago as a non running stuck tractor. Sat outside at my cabin for the all those years . Finally got it home this past spring. Well today I took of some parts off and put a pipe wrench to the crankshaft. It turned! I stopped out of shock! Now I needed to see if I can get it running. What would you recommend to squirt down the sparkplug holes to avoid damage?

Thanks for your replies.

Just take ur squirt can and give it 8-10 shots of engine oil is all
I do on free engines. Then turn it over.

I use this fogging oil:

Use whatever you have handy that is oily. There's no product out there with magical properties. All that matters is that it has lubricating properties.

For example, I have about 8 cans of PB Blaster laying around. I'd probably grab one and use it.

I would fill the cylinders with ATF and also pour ATF into the exhaust till it leaks. By the way have the spark plugs back in before pouring it in the exhaust and let it sit a few days then pull the plugs and spin it over

I agree.
You want to make sure the valves are well lubed before turning it over.

Well if you guys want to get real technical about it , pull the valve cover off , oil up all valves and rockets. And as said when u spray the oil around inside the cyl. The oil gets into the upper combustion chamber once the valves are open. Dave has a free turning engine here. Which I would think the valves are not stuck either. Filling the exhaust pipe makes about as much sense as jumping off a cliff to see if you can fly. It’s the film of oil that counts, the oil belongs in the oil pan for the pump to pump it around the .002 brg clearances. And by the way all oil is expensive so why in the world waste oil like that. 🤷🏻‍♂️and have a mess all over to clean up 🙈and I could bet you do not do that anyhow as a gallon of ATF is about 50.00 just to let it fly out of spark plug holes when spinning the engine over. No finesse or professionalism doing that. 🤔and the beat goes on. 🥴and if someone Tryed that on my tractors they would be sucking the oil right back out with a McDonald’s paper straw using their lips.

There is nothing in ATF that gives it special properties as a rust penetrant I spite of what's it's groupies think. If it makes a person feel better then use it, however its no different than giving a placebo to a hypochondriac. Filling an engine full of it, that's a joke,,, right???? I hope so.
As has been said already use any low viscosity oil or thin down some heavier oil with a solvent. It's way cheaper than ATF, add some red dye if it makes a person feel better.

Hey butch, u should give some night classes to some of these groupies. I won’t attend though as I am in full agreement with your statement. On second thought maybe I should , be like a comedy club. Lol.

Leading a horse to water and forcing it to drink are two entirely different matters!

That’s a great feeling when it spins after sitting, and a bit of a relief. Congrats on that
I believe a couple teaspoons(?) in each hole at most, the air pressure to coat is a nice touch and then a good old fashioned workout is in order.
I was thirteen when I spent my savings on an M and I was on cloud nine driving it, enjoy!
