Non stuck engine

Yep, tell me , would you fill up your exhaust pipe with ATF. I hardly think so. But keep

Wow! What an audience. I did get some smiles for sure. I had the feeling like when you pee in your pants and have a nice warnm feeling. Well it cooled off quickly.

Now. I spoke too soon! It turns but not all the way. I'm think I have a stuck valve or? Looks more like a winter project now.

That is why I read YT lots of smiles and some good medicine laughs. It is amazing on the difference in opinions and it doesn't take much to understand the logics of yes and no or it works or doesn't, makes sense or doesn't. Some people do something and it works never understanding what they did is not what made it work. Like fill the engine from top with oil worked because it didn't break something. a spray may have done the same. I was taking down racking yesterday and we pounded with our hands and feet and pulled on one bar and said forget it we need to get something bigger. Turned around to grab a different on and it fell off. Had nothing to do with our pounding it. I learnt that it has to be perfectly aligned and not twist on it and they pull apart. Next guy said you have to use a rubber mallet. mallet worked every time for him so that was the only correct way. He even said we couldn't do it with out a hammer. LOL we proved him wrong but he still didn't believe us. We were just lucky

Yep, me.. I'd take the valve cover off first and see if any valves are stuck. Do you have or know someone who has a borescope? That would tell you a lot in just a few minutes too. Just my 3 cents! :)

OP found out it isn't free so that changes things but if it is free I have squirted a few squirts from an oil can in each cylinder waited a bit then rolled it over with the starter for a few seconds (plugs out). Put the plugs in and start it. Shut it down if the oil pressure doesn't come up right away. This method has worked for me recently on a TO-35 and a TE-20.

If the engine is not stuck. Why would you pour anything into the cylinders?

Pull the plugs and crank it over until it builds oil pressure. Then do a compression test. If the compression is good put the plugs back in and run it. If not then put the tractor in a swimming pool full of ATF, WD-40, kerosene, 90 weight along with some of granny's bacon grease all mixed together and let it soak for a week or two.

why, that is because the rings are dry and cranking it over does not oil the cylinders to get oil into the rings. it is a good idea to oil cylinders that have sat for years. they could even have rust spots from condensation but not be stuck. why have dry rust emering the rings, and scratching the walls. i have had engines with next to nothing for compression and once the cylinders were oiled it built compression . then if it dont start park it on a frozen lake and sell tickets as to what day it will sink. someone in anther 50 years will retrieve it and think they hit the gold mine.

I think you missed Mule Meat’s sarcasm, “pour” being the key word, probably equates “flood or drown” in this context.

rustred, be careful on what you say on the net. It's been 50 years since I last one won ice out raffle. And now I'm friends with the Conservation offer in your area.

Well if he is referring to old pouring oil down the exhaust pipe , who the heck knows what somebody is thinking already in this comedy show. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Really ? My nieghbor was a conservation officer till he retired a few years ago. Plus I went to school with him. And have no idea what u are referring to?

You all are all for oil in the cylinders and make fun of Old for remembering the valves get rusty too? Intake and exhaust so your muffler joke is out. Makes sense to me. Loosen the manifold and squirt it in. Doesn't take much atf to fill the ports. The atf is thinner and has more cleaning agents than any oil.

I was just kidding. You mentioning Ice out brought back memories I had forgotten. If my was offensive I do apologize.

Lotta life truths in that statement. And add to it that in the cyber world one never knows if the poster has any knowledge and experience or is just posting wishful thinking. None the less common sense is always good guidance in life,,, if one has it. And there sure seems to be enough postings that defy mine,, LOL

don't forget a little elbow grease.

I was in the process of assembly one evening and the next step was to put the manifolds on when I quit for the night. Next day after some more parts were installed I put a wrench on to turn it manually. It would go only a half turn and came to a soft stop. After a few hours of investigation it turned out to be one cylinder full of mouse bait. I Got it cleaned out without having to take the head off, and it turned freely.
