My 1935 Cletrac EN

Hello,

Thought I'd share my Cletrac EN with the group.
In around 1990ish I had a friend that found this crawler sitting in an orchard in Yakima WA. It had a bad motor we found out once acquired. This was my late father's purchase. He always wanted a crawler. He ended up selling it to a friend David Reed who had a bad tractor but with a good motor. He always wanted and finally ended up with a Jond Deere Lindamen. I always loved this tractor and mentioned if his friend ever wanted to sell it I would be interested. Around 1998 it became mine.
So this Cletrac was originaly sold through the Lindamen tractor co of Yakima WA in 1935. Yes the same Lindamen that went on to make the John Deere Lindamen crawler.
It still today starts on the second crank. I love this machine. With around only 642 produced it's fairly rare to see one. This is the only one I have ever came crossed.
This small EN was used to pull a sprayer in the apple orchards.

Here's my Cletrac.

I've never seen one like that. Thanks for the picture.

Beautiful crawler there!
I have a 1927 orchard K with some original grey and red paint left on it.
I preserved/encapsulated the mostly rusty surface with a flat, not glossy, boiled linseed type coating..Sweet Patina Sauce..it darkens the color up a bit but protects what's left of the original paint and keeps the metal from rusting.

Yeah, I should probably do the same. Definitely leaving it original and as found!!

I don't have anything, however a huge auction is going on down here in CA, and there's an EN in the auction. Not a narrow gauge like yours, but an EN nonetheless. Given the amount of equipment, unless they're super rare, stuff will probably go cheap. The scrappers are already bidding. See lot 140.

Dang. Wish it was closer. It's up to $7 bid. I have no way to get it if I won the bid unfortunately.

Oh, there's always a way! Great job there, many thanks for sharing your story and pics. Beautiful machine, you should share with Landis Zimmerman and Sherry, Oliver Heritage magazine!
Good luck there. GG
Yeah I hear you. To be honest it's more that I can't afford to take the trip and rent equipment. Also I think my wife would consider a divorce. LOL.
It wasn't a real EN anyways. It just had an EN radiator shell. All EN's were the narrow version. That's what the 'N' stood for. Still a cool tractor and I'm sure it wouldn't take much to get it up and running. Hope someone grabbed it.

It's an EN as I'm fairly certain it had EN on the serial tag as I looked at it yesterday in person. It's likely someone easily extended the width with parts from another crawler.

Very nice Cletrac. Had a 1936 model E Cletrac at the home farm, same as yours except about 78 inches wide. Was in use at the farm until about 1962.

I totally understand that, there's many items, not close, that come on the screen here that should be bought. Shed space is getting hard to find around here too. Thanks for sharing. GG
