Lawn trailer build

Hey i think this falls under this forum rules if not let me know.
I'm wanting to build a lawn utuility trailer to pull behind my utility tractor around my yard. This won't be on the road except behind my tractor even though I'll still put lights on it.
IM thinking of building the frame 48" wide x 12' long this way I can go wider with the crossmembers and deck over the tires but still keep it the same width as the tractor. If I feel 12' is too long I can shorten it to 10'.
Max weight to haul on the trailer would be about 4k. I want it to be robust for off roading in the woods with it loaded.
I'm debating between using 2"x4" rectangle tubing 1/8" thick or 3" channel. Ill be using a spring suspension under it with a single axle.

I didn't see where you asked for advice but in YT tradition I'll give some anyhow. 😁
12' is on the long side for single axle, especially if something is occasionally drove on and off it. I assume the 2x4 tube is for rails on which springs are mounted and everything else sits on top of similar to gooseneck trailers. IMO 1/8" is overkill and only adds weight. Depending on how hilly your property is, wheel wells might be something to consider in order to lower center of gravity. Since you are adding lights, run wires inside emt to prevent them being pulled off while off-roading. Other than that, paint it to match your tractor and have fun.

I asked for advice in a round about way!!! Lol
I dont plan on driving anything on or off it. Mostly for carrying firewood out of the woods.
I was afraid 1/16" would be too thin.

I've made a couple of nice small utility trailers out of old small boat trailers. Mine were over the road but worked great behind the tractor also and were (critical for me) cheap. It is very easy to shorten the tong on a boat trailer and many also tilt.

Well, my opinion is that for twelve feet 1/8 may be light. Be sure that your axle is well back from the center. something like 2/3 of the way back.

What is the tractor ? Utility doesn't give any detail such as hp or weight.

I made a 4 by 8 foot with angle iron perimeter. One sheet of plywood fits bottom. Single axle with no springs as springs not necessary and they raise the bed height causing you to lift over everything. Side boards and front and rear tailgates removable via stake pockets.

Can I see pictures? I'm afraid a 4x8 would look to small behind a jd 50. I want it to look symmetrical.
