Hi Everyone!

It's been a bit since I posted something. I've been busy behind the scenes at Yesterday's Tractor Co. improving the way we do business for 2026!

I am reaching out to your our esteemed Forum Community to see if you are or know any professional mechanics and machinists working with antique tractors. I want to build a program to promote your work, and continue our mission of keeping antique tractors running in the field.

Many people love antique tractors, want to work with them, but may have limitations and will need your help!

Comment below if you do work, or know of a person or shop.

I sure would like to find such a mechanic in the north Texas or southern Oklahoma area that can rebuild the power steering pedestal on my JD 730. A repository of antique tractor mechanics listed on this web site would be an excellent resource.
 
I think the idea is good but what info you gather and how you get it is important. If someone is actively running a business/shop and advertising, I see it as fine to pass the business name and advertised contact info along to you. If I know someone who works on tractors on the side, doesn't advertise or actively run a public shop, I don't think it is proper to give you their info on the open forum. Such people are likely using their personal phones, emails, and working from their home garage and generally aren't looking for unsolicited calls, JMHO. It seems like any info given to you for those types should be via direct message, after they have consented to giving you the info, or better yet them giving you the info directly if they want to be included.

You also need complete info given to you if it is going to be checked out and meaningful, a name and state is meaningless to me. Search any name in any state and you will likely get many hits. How do you know which one is the right one?

The bottom line to me is you need more guidelines as to what is acceptable and how it is to be verified.
 
I have my certificate of proficiency and do all my own work on my old tractors also. I am sure by now on this forum people already know who knows what. Plus there is all kinds of restorers out there already. Not gonna gain much with your program.

All good questions. I plan on handling like I did with my former business, iSaveTractors. I will reach out to places/people interested in joining this list, and have several conversations with them, vetting them in the process.

This is to help folks who come to the forum but don't participate in discussions. This forum gets millions of views, I want to make it so it's easier for people to get help when they need to. Thanks for your contributions!
 
If any of the forum members here want a side business, a full time business, let me know, and I'd love to show my support to you. In my previous business, iSaveTractors, we sent so many people to some of the few machinists still specializing in old Cast Iron engines, we created entire income streams for them. I'd like to support this community in the same way.

I'd love to start a side business for some extra cash. but I'm afraid I'm too young.

way too much side tracked info on this site. one person can nail the answer on the head while the "maybe this and that's " keep coming. i still don't know what your getting at. there is all kinds of info out there. even googlers . u tubers, and lots already in this business, and so on. no one is vetted here nor is the info. plus there is very very little actual technical talk as it is. i have yet to see a post of i differentials being o/h ed and set to spec's, a transmission o/h, nor an engine being rebuilt from a bare block and being assembled step by step. same with an alternator or generator rebuild. same thing in carburetors , and tune ups. trades people go to school to learn their trades. and the ones that have trades are already in business for them selves or working for business. it don't take much to change spark plugs , but knowing what to look for is another thing. so i am at a loss how you are going to make it easier.
