You could have said which serial number you were looking for to avoid the answers you got. People generally think of the tractor serial number first.Got serial # on tractor
I WANT serial # off Tractor MOTER
Depends on the year , might be on the right rear side under head.

Some of those engines had the serial number stamped into the back of the block on the flat area just above the torque tube flange.
If you do find the engine serial number be aware the engine serial number most likely will not match the tractor, they were not assembled with matching numbers.
An old thread about a B engine serial number

That's where 39-B engine serial# is. I don't think you'll ever see it by looking from the side. Imagine sitting in the driver's seat looking straight down the steering shaft at the rear of the engine at the very top. There is a flat on the engine with the number stamped (see picture). Of course you still can't see it hardly because the gas tank and hood are hiding it. Anyway, that's my experience and I hope it helps you find it. MichaelThank U !
I will check that out Monday !
The 122 in my old '38 was rebuilt out of chassis. No one ever thought to check a serial number. It was enough to find rings and undersized bearings for it.
