Please Help!!!! Farmtrac 555DTC

My farmtrac 555 dtc is having a problem in 4wd. When in 4wd i feel a clunk under my seat. Not constant, every once in a while. Also my pto lever is getting stuck. I couldnt engage pto yesterday. It did this before but after playing with it was able to get the lever to kick back and engage. In 2wd the tractor drives great. 4wd clunk. Any advice is apreciated.

I feel it under my seat pretty good. Also the noise sounds like it's coming from directly under my seat. Shaft feels pretty tight when I try to turn by hand

I'm not familiar with the tractor, but is the PTO clutch housed somewhere under the seat?

Noises and shock can travel up and down a drive line, to the operator it can sound like it is coming from whatever is closest. Check the easy to fix things first, like loose wheel and rim bolts, failing U-joints, etc.

You probably already know this, using 4WD on hard surfaces can cause severe drive line windup until one of the tires eventually slips, rapidly relieving the built up stress on the drive line with a shock, especially when turning on hard surfaces with 4WD locked in..

I hope it is something simple to fix, replacing gear trains gets expensive.
