Being stranded and walking home...scooter in the trunk?

Wasn't upset about the two break downs. Knew how to fix it, how to retrieve it, wouldn't cost much. It's just I imagined being stranded much further from home.
Maybe I asked the wrong question. What tools and spare parts should I carry in a 37 year old car? Don't say "buy a new car". Driving a car I know how to fix is priceless.

What l and spare parts should I carry in a 37 year old car?

Spare parts carried in all of our autos.
New belt/s
New radiator hoses with new hose clamps.
Jump box
Tire repair kit
12 volt compressor

Same for my 26 year old Jeep Cherokee along with..
Front hub
Ball joints
Tie rod ends
Starter
U joints
Alternator or a rebuild kit
Heavy fence wire
Exhaust clamps
Idler pulley
Some 14 and 12 gauge wire
Head and tail light bulbs
Couple quarts of engine oil, transmission, power steering fluid and a gallon of full strength antifreeze.
Assortment of bolts, nuts and screws.

A little overkill I know. But The ole Jeep is used for a lot of camping and fishing trips into the back country miles from the nearest anything. I have never had to walk out due to break downs that couldn't be fixed on the trail from spare parts I carried with me.

Never personally needed it but I built it to rescue family members stranded hundreds of miles from their home. Twice! Consists of an old 12v camper water pump, jug for water, 10' of 1/4" hose with tee to fit heater hose, powered by cigarette lighter. Except for the jug, everything fits in a lunch pail size box. So when the gauge reads hot, for any reason, you can pump water into the engine while driving.
One brother had a blown head gasket on vacation, one had a block with cracked water jacket. Newish cars.

I'd forget to take the scooter. The starter went out on my truck a year ago and neither of us remembered to take the phone.

As far as I know, my phone is either in the console of the pickup or the cab or one of the tractors. That doesn't look like either of them.

I used to take tractors from my house to the farm and then walk the 4 miles home, at 75 not so much anymore. A couple years ago I came out of my credit union and a guy had a no start with a GM car. He was trying to hit the starter with a small hammer. I got a real hammer out of my truck and said "try this" it started right up, 30 oz ball peen.

I had problems with my starter on a Ford 2000. Did the usual things and no help. Took it to a local guy that fixes them for a hobby....still no help. A good smack when in the cranking mode would get it going. Apparently the armature shaft was worn to the point that new bearings didn't solve the armature-field shorting out problem.

Nope, it clips securely onto your belt, And when you change clothes it is very prominently there to remind you to take it.

Cell phone is like any other tool to me. Got use to carrying it many years ago when parents health begin fading. I can answer it or not now. But i carry it all the time. Just like my watch, pocket knife, and multi tool.

That is why I leave my knife in the car for those buildings and in my checked bags when traveling. Easy day really

This event spurred my interest in E-bikes. Slowly leaning toward bigger and better. The latest one I'm interest in won't even fit in the trunk and weighs 75 lbs!

One tends to forget. I walked into a courthouse and thought of it (a tiny Swiss pin knife 2 inch blade approximately) but thought if I suddenly turned around and walked out it would arouse more suspicion than going through and saying "I didn't know until I walked in the door." He chewed me out pretty good though a lady ahead of me had a big pocketknife (3 or 4 inch blade) in her purse. Next time I'll turn around and walk out. My solution was to quit carrying it though it would be awful handy to have at times.

But I do go into places often that you can't carry any kind of weapon. When I was traveling all the time for work I forgot about something in my backpack once, a new set of nice darts, straight into the trash, our bags were already on the plane.

I carry a knife in my carry on. It is good enough to do what ever I need when traveling (cut a tag off, open something, etc). It is a 1 1/4 inch pen knife. Carry it in my shaving/toothpaste kit. Been thru many security checks. Nationally and internationally.

I still carry a 3 blade pocket knife that my folks gave me some time in the late 40's.
