Cutting oats...

That time of year again. Lots of straw...have to see if the hot weather hurt the yield.

Nobody plants oats in my area, but I did this spring as a cover crop for a new clover field. Did alright but were sowed too thin to harvest. Growing up, we used them for a protein boost to ground dairy cattle feed. First time I ran an open station Case self propeled combine was a 20 acre oat field. I think my dad didn't want to deal with the itch.

Those look Great Steve Congrats you have are leaving more stubble o the ground than crop I have here long range shows even drier winter and 2027 here for us than this year

We had a 4.5" and 3.5" rain early in the season. Course with those kind of events, most runs off. Been dry for a month and could use some for the beans and corn. Thought you maybe got some rain earlier when western SD got a shot.

Cash crop oats for sale...bale the straw and sell it for bedding.

less than 3" of h20 in the past 10 months here was DRY before that too have not had even half normal h20 in 10 years now

Looks good, nice swath hope it bushels out well. I miss swathing grain, this picture is from the early 90's. 1030 case and 24' versatile 10 swather, memory lane, thanks for posting those pictures.
