1965 JOHN DEERE 4020 diesel rough idea of value

For sale not too far from me. I'm interested primarily in doing some light duty road maintenance and snow removal. Give me a ball park sort of value assuming it runs and works well with no obvious issues or leaks. What else ought I keep an eye out for pre-purchase?

Listed as: Syncro-Range, new front tires, rims , converted from generator to alternator, new starter, radiator rebuilt, new hoses, new coupler to pump, new step, hydraulics addressed including rebuilding a couple cylinders and more. Have the complete rebuild kit for the seat to be restored. Rear tires are weather checked but doing fine. 158 loader, sheet metal appears clean and straight. Includes nice bucket, fork attachment for hay, and grapple. In central Colorado.

Is it a standard or a wheatland with fixed wide front? Has it been converted to 12 volt, what size tires and condition of rims on back, condition of fenders, how much blow by on cold start, color of oil in engine and hydraulics, and color of exhaust when it's idling

adjustable front end. fenders appear to be very straight and clean. I'm guessing 12V with alternator conversion. Appears to have new starter. The photos that I have are fuzzy but I believe 15.5-38 on the rear. Rear wheel weights.

Rough ballpark: $7,000 to $11,000 depending on condition.

I think $7,000 to $11,000 is on the low side with a 158 loader. I spent a couple of years trying to buy a 148 or 158 for my 4020 and a 158 will bring $4,000 on its own. I would say more like $10,000 to $15,000. The 15.5-38 was more common on a 4010 and might lower the price.

Anything that anyone posts as far as value is nothing more than a WAG. Condition means everything. Words cannot replace pictures to get a somewhat accurate idea of the condition of the tractor and loader.

Does he have a posted asking price? If so, it would be interesting to see what he thinks the value is.

I still think that 158 loader is worth nearly $4,000. Duel outlets, JD front end, weights, sway blocks and I assume power beyond. Ask about the top link. That not a lot of hours if it's the original tac. Agree with Ray.

Hey Jim those are just 2 LARGE wheel weights. Never seen that style.

I suppose I needed to enlarge that photo. I don't remember seeing one weight with the "Z pattern" similar to that weight. I'll guess it weighs over 600#s
