You say it is for sale. What is the asking price? It appears that this is, in fact, a 1964. Serial number "4020 22T 79xxx". Dunno if this is better or worse than a '65. Seems like the differences would be the differential lock, injectors, fenders (?).
original posted price was $9500.Sealed the deal at $8K.
Including the top link, original 24V starter, new lights, odds and ends, and new seat cushions. I need to beg/borrow a 15K trailer to get it home.
My tire guy indicates $1800 out the door installed for new Carlisle 15.5-38.
I would seriously consider going to 16.9-38's if you have 14" or 15"rims. The 15.5's are a low profile tire. My 71 4020 came from a western state with junk 15.5's and factory duals. Put 16.9's on it and never regretted it. Made a real tractor out of it. Gained 2"- 3" of drawbar clearance and no more tail dragger look.My tire guy indicates $1800 out the door installed for new Carlisle 15.5-38.
that's an interesting idea. I'll have to measure the wheels.I would seriously consider going to 16.9-38's if you have 14" or 15"rims. The 15.5's are a low profile tire. Yup, upgrade to 16.9-38s or maybe save some money and find some used 18.4-38s already mounted on 16 inch wide rims for around $1000 or less per pair. 18.4-38 is a much more common size now. 16.9s and 18.4s will hold a lot more fluid weight than 15.5s.I would seriously consider going to 16.9-38's if you have 14" or 15"rims. PTO runs as expected. Power steering likewise. Transmission and linkage work as expected.Just my somewhat deft opinion, but I think the dual hydraulics and additional wheel weights would add to the value. It may be helpful also to know if the PTO starts and stops like it should. And, does the PS work properly, shifts into and out of all gears properly.
Fuel lift pumps are a normal repair and are fairly inexpensive. The tractor is still over sixty years old and the loader probably between forty and fifty years old, so both will need some normal repairs and maintenance, just like any older used vehicle. Fuel filters, coolant, hydraulic fluid and hydraulic filter may need to be checked or replaced before winter. IMHO, for the money you did very well on this purchase. Hope it serves you well for many decades.Current status. Appears that the lift pump is dead. And is the non-rebuildable kind. On order. Also need to reseal one of the loader cylinders; kit is in the mail.
