Anyone here have a proven mosquito control pesticide mix to be used near homes and around barns?there are a lot of options but I’m looking for what works.is malathion something I can use?

Since as many mosquitoes come in from surrounding properties as from yours insecticide must be strong and lethal to make a difference. That kind of stuff wipes out everything that creeps or crawls which can do more harm than good. My solution is wearing clothing treated with Sayers Permethrin. To help folks enjoy my patio, I treat cushions and umbrellas.

My control just left for the year. 2 sets of these. 54 nest for martins. While they are here there are very very few flying insects such as mosquitoes and flys.

I use Permethrin 10%. Follow directions for mixing. Mosquitoes were really bad last year. Seems like they would carry you off if you stood still. Sprayed them with this stuff and they were gone. Safe for pets and humans also.

We are seeing very few mosquitos and deer flies over the last few years, don't know why as we are not targeting them and certainly do not spray pesticides. Wife and I spend a lot of time outside especially in the evening when it is cooler, I tell her we must have aged out of favor with them. What ever glad they are gone.

Also, make sure you don’t have anything laying around that holds rain water. Tires, buckets, tarps etc. and clean out water troughs for animals regularly. If you have a pond of any size without fish in it, stock some minnows. I use pesticides as a last resort and have not used any in years. If I’m in the woods I use a little Off on exposed skin and hat.

Please explain to us how a bird that hunts high in the air in the daytime makes even a small dent on a bug that stays close to the ground and comes out at night.

If anything martins make mosquito populations worse because they eat dragonflies.

Around here the parish sprays for mosquitoes. They use a pickup that drives around and a plane that flies overhead to get the area without roads.
While the spray is clear today when we were kids it was a thick fog. Every kid in the neighborhood would hear the mosquito truck coming and run outside and ride their bike through the thick fog. I think the mosquito truck attracted more kids than the ice cream truck. The fog was a DDT kerosene mix. No wonder I’m so screwed up in the head today.

Just read on the news that there is a case of encephalitis about 6 miles from here.
It is spread by skeeters.
