I've had Dick Stoyell in Moravia, NY recommended to do 2 cylinder carb work by A & L Parts which specializes in JD 2 cylinder tractors. Not a far drive for you.

I have rebuilt many of these carbs before, but thisone is coated in baked on grease and and sum surface rust inside the barrels and uselly these rebuild shops sand blast everything, and that is what I was looking for.

I have used Old Carb Doctor in Nebo NC and thrilled with the results.

I don’t sandblast my carburetor, as a rule. Got rid of my sandblast. I have had issues with grit lodge in smaller orfice.
What I like to do is this .i have a propane Turkey fryer ,I put the carburetors ( cast iron only ) in an old porcelain pot and boil it with purple power ( simple green ) detergent degreaser.
If the carburetor is (aluminum ) I use Dawn platinum dish and boil it . Actually can use dawn on the cast iron .
This will remove all the old paint and grease from the all the surface . As far as the smaller .04 diameter holes I use am small drill and pin vise to drill out and solids in these holes . Then plunging it back into boiling water for final prep.
High pressure air the ports.
I find the boiling clears the smaller orfice of the idle circuits at the vortex butterfly.
Mix cup of purple power to a gallon of water .

Dick Stoyell died several years ago unless he has a son named dick. I went to the auction when they sold everything.

A son or a nephew as I know who you are referring to. The recommendation to me was made to me not even two months ago and Aaron has been taking carbs over to Moravia for a while. My understanding is Dick does work on a wide variety of carbs.
