Jet Star PTO output shaft.

Does main pto shaft and clutch pack have to be removed to change the pto output shaft? Someone cut off the output shaft. Anyone ever done job? Looks to have a big nut holding gear in place.

I can't answer your question tonight as my book is over at the shop. If I get there tomorrow I will try and look. Off the top of my head I think yes, but not exactly sure.

Looks like torched. Drawbar also then welded to hangar.

Also have a 5 Star diesel on that snapped half off running a mix mill. Have looked into a wrecked M5. No room to work unless pto shaft pulled. Later supers had a snap ring rather than nut on inside. Guess depends how shaft slides out on bearing.

Just finished removing both pto shaft and output shaft. Really no way to remove output shaft with out taking out main pto shaft and clutchpak. Is little room to work. Big nut has to be removed on shaft as well as gear. Shaft has to be either pulled out or pressed out. I used heavy piece of iron against bull gears and big prybar on end with nut back on . It popped right out as only front bearing holding shaft in place.
