NH 555E tie rod replacement

1999 New Holland 555E 2wd tie rod end / ball joint removal. Replacing tie rods. Have 2 24” crescent wrenches. Barely got one on one side. Cannot get on other due to top plate on axle. Anyone have any experience with this?

Sometimes you have to grind off parts of your wrenches to make them fit. Can you get a chain wrench around it?
 
Well, I got lucky. The right hand side was only hand tight. It came off easily. There were no wrench flats on the right side of the steering shaft. I turned the wheel all the way to the right and made the left-hand side of the shaft fully extend. I ground down a wrench to get on the flat and put a pipe wrench on the ball socket, and it was not much more than hand tight. Next step is removing the cylinder caps and repacking the cylinder on the unit. I may be back…
