hytran question

bought a 2294 case and powershift and brakes and pto clutch and ring and pinion just all repaired and replaced. major job. tractor has no hours on repair (yet) The repair man put refilled with hytran. How important is it going forward to use hytran and how careful should I be switching implements back and forth with tractors using hygard or other oils? I have seen plenty of low hour cases with lamination issues on the frictions in the brakes and pto clutch. I do know and am aware and have seen delamination issues probably from oil issues. Do I need to carry 5 gal buckets and drain the oil from cylinders then allow my tractor to refill them as I share implements or is there a cross contamination aspect threshhold acceptable?

Personally, I wouldn't worry unless the previous tractors on the implements had water in the hydraulic oil. Water has been the cause of almost all hydraulic problems I've dealt with.

I USED to recommend hytra, about 5 years back or so they changed it for the new equipment as well as changing suppliers, it is being made from the cheapest crude type known to man by crap shell oil smells like Sewer,, they have it priced like its gold,, I switched to a high quality brand name oil, both all types of oil now come from them, better quality oil at a much better rate,, this is a touchy subject of course,, I use what I use you use what you like,, easy peezy

I have used Co-op HTB in my 2470 for 30+years. 1270 had HTB when I bought it. 4690 gets HTB. 1640 CIH combine uses it also plus all the 30 series that are not power shift. Never had a problem with any of them.

Here again this is what I do, I deal with a lot of chemicals companies and have done so for 40 years. I asked the question and these are friends of mine. They said if it lists the spec for what you need then you ok.

Make sure the oil you buy is a TRANSMISSION-HYDRAULIC Oil and not a simple hydraulic fluid. When it has the "TRANSMISSION" prefix, it has the "Extreme Pressure: additives missing in straight hydraulic fluid. Hydraulic fluid is simply panther pi$$ with an anti foaming agent. Customers call here with bad hyd's, bad converters, bad bearings, bad power shifts, whatever, and the 1 common thing is that they use "Hydraulic Fluid". "Oh, it's top shelf"!! "It's NAPA's, or Deere's best"!! Yeah, it's $hit.

See if anyone in your area sells Viscosity brand oil, They were the original manufacture of HY-TRAN and are selling it under there name, have had good results with it

I’m running it too most case dealers in my area still sell it and it’s the original. The new hytran is made by shell…..fiat is slowly getting rid of all the us suppliers. Got filters the other day from spain. Belts from Europe too. So much for donaldson and viscosity. Wish they would stop pretending to be a us company….
