Anybody Ever Heard Of A Vsee Box For Tv

We had Dishnet for the tv's for the last six years, just received word that it will be going up another ten dollars a month. We decided that wasn't going to happen. A Nephew said to get a thing called "Vsee Box" and no subscriptions. Loaded with different channels.
Anybody out here using such a thing and is it worth it? We do like to record our favorite shows, mostly the Country Music show on the RFDTV channel. We do have WiFi already.

From what I can see it might be a lot like the Superbox that my wife bought for me for Christmas on the recommendation of a friend. I still haven't connected it to try it out. We currently use ROKU for tv. My understanding is that the Superbox is borderline legal/illegal. The information supplied with it says that they are not responsible for illegally obtained programming. Basically you set up a VPN and then can stream pretty much anything you want for free because your "receiver" can't be traced. I didn't read up on the unit you mentioned so it may be something completely different.

Giving it a quick read it uses the underbelly of the internet to steal licensed programming. Go there if you’re not worried about it taking your info and bandwidth. It has apps that steal programming and can also help themselves with you.

Not that I am aware of. It connects to WiFi is all I know. Was recommended to me by an IT person. Several others have gotten one after seeing mine. Had it over a year and no problems. Have around 750 sports channels, 600 news, the rest is a mix of RFD to hgtv to hbo and showtime and many others.

VSee and Superbox are basically the same thing from what I just read. They both carry risks because they can harbor malware that can steal data from your home network. They also steal programming using questionable sources, some of which are based overseas and collect data from the users. That's why I haven't installed my Superbox even though the person who recommended it to my wife has been using one for years with no problem, and he is also head of IT in a correctional facility.

I have no extra data on my WiFi. I do not use online banking or such. So far I have had no problems.

The person who recommended the superbox said to definitely set it up on a VPN so it can't be traced and to help protect from malware. We have several phones, laptops and tablets all connected to wifi so an attack could be pretty bad for us.

Daughter is an IT guru with a criminal justice degrees also. She researched and set this one up. If it needs or requires a vpn then I am sure she did that. Will ask next time she comes up.

And therin lies the reason I haven't used my Superbox. While I, personally, wouldn't be stealing the content, I would be receiving content that someone else stole. No different than receiving stolen property. Stealing is stealing. It makes me question the character of the person who recommended it to my wife. He's the IT/cyber-security guy in a correctional facility, yet he's ok with stolen content. The vSee is the same thing.

I use the Fire Stick, on two of our TVs, bought one at Fred Meyer, on at Good Guys, They were pretty. inexpensive, since you already have wifi, I picked up a new Smart TV for the better half to watch in the office while she irons, and it brings in a wide variety of programming.
