6V Generator with a cutout switch

I just brought home 2 tractors with 6V positive ground charging systems. I believe I have both systems working now----you know the blind pig story right? One has an older style cutout switch and I cleaned the contacts on it and quite possibly polarized the generator in the process????? Was working on the other tractor today and was going to do the same to it but couldn't. See photo of cutout switch. Might have just accidently polarized the genny on that one too.

If I have any problems in the future is one style cutout relay superior to the other?

I do have a copy of the John T troubleshooting printed out-----guess I'd better study it a little bit.

It would help if you told us what brand and model the tractors are so we know if the systems are A or B circuit. JohnTs guide is for A circuit systems. You posted about a JD W stationary engine in another thread which tells me you might be a JD man, so Delco A circuit systems is what they have.

Sorry for the lack of clarity. The tractors in question are Allis C’s. I can actually read tag ( normally totally obscured in my reality) on one and it is Delco. So I need to investigate a B circuit system. Not sure you have the right guy on the JD stationary engine. I do have a JD 316 mower- - -I’m open to any color equipment.

The pictures you posted look like a solid state cutout relay, used in place of a mechanical relay cutout. It should work okay if the rest of the charging system is working properly.

Whoops!, sorry serious brain twist up on that one.

No, as Jim stated the majority of Delco systems are “A” circuit, I believe that is what I indicated as well. (Edit: or at least said a Delco on a Deere is an A circuit)
