Fixing something on my tractor it is not uncommon to cut or scrap my self and start bleeding. Today I injured my self twice, not working on my tractor, but Just walking through my screen door, and it slammed shut on my arm, and made a nice cut. Then setting a rat trap it went off and made a nice cut on my finger. I noticed as I get older my skin is very thin, and it doesn't take much to draw blood. You old guys notice this also? Stan

Yes. Doctor confirmed that old, thin skin is a real thing.

That and BP meds. Cuts and scrapes that I used to ignore now bleed like I've been stabbed. Annoying.
Yep, just getting up off the concrete floor in my garage tears the skin on my elbows/forearms, and I don't even know it happened. Go in the house for lunch and DW about has a panic attack when she sees blood-soaked shirt sleeves.

It seems I'm constantly seeping blood from some bump, bruises, or cut.

Yes sir: I tell people that if you have horses your going to bleed. My hands and arms have white spots and areas where the skin was slid off. Most from rope raking across or just getting real tight. I normally dump some alcohol over it and cover it with band Aids or what is needed until it heals.

My hands look like hamburger today. I was messing with one of the antique tractors Sunday and took some hide off the back of my right hand. Monday, the wife and I unrolled two new rolls of woven wire and stretched it up on both sides of the lane. Tuesday, I put all of the wire clips on and tightened the barbed wire on top. I hate wearing leather gloves to work with those clips, they're too bulky. I'm surprised I didn't bleed out. Good thing I don't bleed very long.

Was 85 in September. I find that I can't do much of anything without coming away with a cut or bruise any more and the bruises take sometimes weeks to go away. On thin skin, I was walking through a doorway in the house awhile back and bumped the side of the door frame and broke off a chunk of skin.....just bumping the frame!

The other thing, as many have responded, is that I can hardly get up anymore off a creeper, or if I am on my knees without something to push against with my arms to help my legs support my body........Yea the Golden Years.....aren't they wonderful.....pfffffffffft!

That and BP meds.
BP meds do not normally cause increased bleeding. What does is blood thinners - aspirin, and the most common prescribed thinner, Coumadin (generic name warfarin) as well as other less common ones. do it.

And yes, age and steroid use both cause thinning skin.

I'll be 70 in a couple of weeks, and am not on any meds yet to cause those problems. However, all my life I've always clotted up and healed fast.Have never had a stitch, but maybe I should have a couple of times.Electrical tape and a kleenex until I got somewhere for help, but by the times I got there things always seemed to be under control.Fresh tape and gauze after and I always healed up.I still climb, and walk around on beams and such, but in the last year or so I've developed a nervousness about it.My wife says I'm finally smartening up.I'm not unsteady or anything, but now when I'm doing something I start to dream up disasters that could happen at any moment.I was up a tree a couple of days ago,and started having odd thoughts. What if my belt breaks? What if one of my spikes break off? What if the tree splits at the fork 10 feet below me? Today I'm in my manlift 55 feet up over my house carving up an old maple tree that overhangs it.it is a little stressful,70 foot tree and a 55 foot manlift.Piecing it down with ropes because my house is right under it.When I was a kid my dad never let me near tractors much,a lot of people around him had been killed by tractors at young ages.Climbing was another story. He's sit and watch when I went up trees or the sides of old barns and silos.I was a 90 pound monkey.

Hardly a day goes by that I don't get a cut, scrape, or bruise now. just barely touch something and it starts bleeding. 👨‍🌾
