Sun-Mastr Brush hog Info

Hi All,

My newest project is to refurb a 1949 8N with a brush hog. I need to replace the blades on the brush hog. Its being sandblasted to find all the cracks and broken welds. After repairs I'm getting it powder coated. The mfg plate says Sun-Mastr built by Sun-Mastr Corp from Olathe, Ks. Its built heavy ( 720 lbs) with diamond plate top and side skins with a rounded rear. Does anyone have any additional info on parts or blades for the Sun-Mastr 60" brush hog?

I found this in an old post. Might be worth checking it out.

Sun-mastr was purchased by Arts-Way (www.artsway-mfg.com) or 712-864-3131 Contact them for a local dealer. I recently got blades for a 60" Sunmastr mower "

Hope this helps.

I recently purchased an old Sun Mastr E-48-S rotary mower that I need to replace parts and have a few questions. (1) On the 1” blade mount bolt there is a 3/16” thick piece of steel that mounts to a welded spacer and then the 1” bolt with the castle nut. Did you need to make new ones or did you find a source to purchase them? (2) the large nut that attaches the heavy blade assembly to the gear box is to fit in a hexagon recess when tighten. This nut was loose and not seated into this recess, did you use a lock washer or did you need to take the gearbox apart to secure it to the shaft? (3) do you happen to know the size of the U-joints? Thanks Ray

Welcome to the Forums.

This is a 15-year-old thread and the two guys posting in it haven't been seen in years.

I am going to suggest you start a thread of your own about this in the Implements Forum, found in the General topics section up the page.
