Case 530 PTO clutch

I have a Case 530 and the PTO clutch seems to be slipping under load. This is the model with the long handle to the right and rear of the seat which is pushed back to engage. I"ve followed some adjustment instructions posted on this site from a Case Manual but can"t seem to locate the "spring loaded lock pin" that"s supposed to allow adjustment. Another Case manual refers to a hole on the left side of the PTO housing in which to insert an "adjusting tool" but no such hole exists on my tractor. Any suggestions?

You have to take out the angled 3/4" hex plug above the shaft. The pin is hard to see and it is tight quarters. You probably missed it as you turned the shaft. There is a notched washer that half the pin slides in to. A philips screwdriver works good to push the pin in. The pin is about 3/8" diamiter A couple2-4 notches of adjustment on the washer should do it.

The plug was on the left side of the PTO housing on the older style tractors. The late 30 and 70 series had the plug/hole on the top as depicted in the picture below.

To tighten the clutch, turn the pto shaft counter clockwise. One or two clicks is probably enough. The lever should take 50-65 lbs to "snap" into the engaged position.

This is the housing that"s on my tractor. The problem is when I look inside the plug hole I just can"t seem to see the "pin" that I"m supposed to push. I DO see two "tabs" about a half inch apart especially when the PTO is engaged and the manuals all say it should be disengaged to adjust. It would be great if I could see a photograph of exactly what I"m looking for.

I think mine is the same so I have to remove the housing to adjust it?
You shouldn't have to. Should be able to go through the plug and push the pin. But you have to rotate it really slowly and really keep an eye out to see the pin. Been years since I did one. And this is assuming you have the later style pto clutch with the lever behind the seat (not the earlier style with the lever on the footwell beside the seat). A good operator's manual will explain it.
