    The engine developed heavy blow by and then it looks like it started to blow oil out the back of the valve cover gasket. The head was just replaced with a reman. It also appears to have a lot of unburnt fuel coming out the exhaust at idle.

    JD 4230 quad range question

    I have a early JD 4230 with the quad range. It does not show any packing or oring here where these two surfaces meet. But yet when it's bolted together I can see a gap.

    Testing JD 4230 hydraulic PSI

    Here's what is going on, the 2spd was slipping in one gear so we rebuilt it and the pto. It doesn't slip any more but once it gets hot and you shift it the trans light will flash. It will also flash when the pto is engaged. Then the light would come on when raising the 3pt but it randomly...

    Testing JD 4230 hydraulic PSI

    What is everyone using to test the hydraulics on a JD 4230? (the pressure ports on the left side) Is there a general testing kit available? Thanks

    Oliver 770 hydraulic issues

    We removed the plug on the left side and sure enough there was another plug in there. We will try it tomorrow to see if that fixed the problem. I sure it did.........I hope.

    The power beyond plug is on the left side towards the front I believe. That has the plug in it yet if that's what you mean. There is a Plug under the reservoir towards the front and center of the base plate. I'm not sure what that is for.

    We have a Oliver 770 that we replaced the hydraulic pump and base plate. The base plate was cracked. Reassembled and we have constant pressure On the hydraulic outlets on both sides when the levers are in the neutral position. PSI is around 1400 right at the start up and doesn't go down. It...
