Testing JD 4230 hydraulic PSI

What is everyone using to test the hydraulics on a JD 4230? (the pressure ports on the left side) Is there a general testing kit available?
Thanks

I've never seen any sort of testing "kit" which has always frustrated me. Experts telling you "check the pressure, check the pressure" but you have to piece together your own diagnostic testing equipment, and it's not stuff commonly available.

I think I picked up my 5000PSI gauge at Harbor Freight of all places (but I don't think they carry them anymore). Farm fleet type stores should have them, as well as some machinery dealers. Otherwise you're ordering online...

I've supplemented the gauge with a 300PSI gauge, a 100PSI gauge, a couple of different hoses, adapters from NPT to all the JIC sizes.

To be clear, since you mention the test ports on the left side, are you intending to check hydraulic pressure or clutch and PTO clutch pressure?

Quite a difference as hydraulic pressure is some 2000 psi and clutch pressure at the clutch and PTO test ports on the LH side is some 200 psi.

Here's what is going on, the 2spd was
slipping in one gear so we rebuilt it and
the pto. It doesn't slip any more but once
it gets hot and you shift it the trans
light will flash. It will also flash when
the pto is engaged. Then the light would
come on when raising the 3pt but it
randomly stopped doing that.

The Deere kit was one 0-30 psi gauge for lube oil pressure, and 4-5 0-300 psi gauges for clutch/brake pressures. They were mounted on a manifold to keep them organized and so you wouldn t forget which gauge was hooked to where. Watching your lube oil pressure will tell you more about internal leaks than the clutch/brake pressures will.

Having a factory Technical manual is just as important as having the appropriate gauges.

One isn't much good without the other.

That is where the early 4020s ps were nice, with the lube gauge pressure on the dash.

Earlier in this thread I said I had never heard of anyone offering a "kit" of gauges and fittings for hydraulic diagnostics.

Leave it to the Chinese to come up with things you never knew you needed to have... Vevor has multiple "kits" of gauges and fittings... Not sure if any of the fittings are of any use but there are some standard ones that can be adapted.

This is the most complete kit with 4 gauges and a whole bunch of fittings, and its $144 if you have an account on the site: https://www.vevor.com/hydraulic-pre...lings-14-tee-connectors-600bar-p_010232686805
