    In defense of old tractors

    Well said Ultradog, well said.

    OT (pickaxe)

Me? I'd soak the big end in a bucket of water overnight, or even for a whole day. The water will make the wood swell.

    Bad experience with STIHL chainsaw

Not a Stihl, but a Husqvarna 455 Rancher. I've had this saw for four years and run the heck out of it to feed my wood fired boiler. I cut six to eight cords per year. I had my first problem this winter, a burned piston. According the saw shop, it was due to ethanol fuel. Usually, my fuel...

    Can you say IDIOT?

I have learned, and am still learning, not to work on stuff when my "energy level" is wrong. Bad Karma, Bad Juju, Mojo not flowing. Many names for the same thing. Just walk away.

OT- What do you use to haul your tractors?

Frugal SOB that I am, I haul with a 98 4.3 S-15 Jimmy, With 277K on it. Not too bad, if I don't try to speed up, or slow down quickly. Slow and easy.

    TSC strikes again?

wellmax99, It's a small world. I lived in Calloway for over 30 years, but recently moved to Marshall Co. I'm sure we have run into each other at some point.

    Had fun last night

A couple of years ago, I thought a midnight tractor ride was in order. Sometimes an inch has to be scratched. A lot of fun and very enjoyable. All except the part about coming back to the house at an idle because I lost my muffler backing through some honeysuckle vines and didn't want to wake...

    choke knob thread?

Mine came with a cabinet knob already on it. I acquired an OEM from a parts tractor, but it is still in the shop. I kinda like the cabinet knob, as someone else said, easy to grab with gloves on. Then too, a touch of "...there are many like it, but this one is mine." Tony

    Every Year...

I know how you feel. I just had my 60th earlier this month. I still feel good but, 60 ain't 50, or 40, or even 30 and it sure as heck ain't 20. LOL I find that I have to pace myself now, and sometimes I just have to quit for awhile. At 60 I still kick, just not as hard, or as high, but I can...

3-pt boom on 8N - worth spending the money on?

Have used mine many times for lifting heavy/awkward loads out of my trailer.

    OT-cutting hole in hardwood floor

Buy two blades instead of one. Be resigned to ruining at least one of them. Of course, YMMV. Tony

lift went too high, clank, help I've risen and can't fall

If it stays up more than four hours, you need to see a doctor. :-)

    OT - Vehicle Insurance question

Ron, The loss of value is a fairly new concept. The crux of the argument is this,a part of your economic loss, due to the negligence of the other companies insured driver, is the loss of value due to the fact the vehicle has been involved in an accident, even though properly repaired. Most...

    OT chain saws

I've had a Husky 455 Rancher with a 20 inch bar for four years. I heat with wood. Unless you are a professional, it's likely all the saw you will ever need. The only problem I've ever had was when I put gas in the oil tank and oil in the gas tank. It just goes to prove, if you live long...
