    Once apart hold it up to daylight and find the pin holes. You can braze or JB weld those shut or find new reproduction pans, gaskets and gas tanks from a number of sources vendor sponsors at smokstak.com like Hit & Miss or Starbolts plus others.

    1947 D rear light size

    7" on rear if has 7 on front. Only some of the later last production had smaller lights and parts book tells the serial number breakdown on that. I may have some used brackets. Most tractor parts supplies now have reproduction rear cast bracket and 7" lens so not an expensive rare item anymore.

    Check the parts manuals they had something like trucks had too a series parallel switch for 24V on starting and 12V on lights and accessories. If the switches aren't right ones or mess up yes might can fry something.

    That"s the casting number. Part number was AD391R and it"s 6 3/4" bore for unstyled Ds 53388-109943 late 1927 to last of 1930. 109944 1931 began with later block same as in styled Ds.

    Different versions of the E engine were made. Does it have a spark plug? If not there is a head on the trip igniter with contact points inside that open and it fires the fuel charge inside the head there when points open. See if any spark at all off the mag when turning it over holding the...

    What do you think about a JD 520

    520 not much more power than a B kind of under powered for any real work except a play farm. A little newer diesel or skid steer loader could save hours scooping in you have to do that for a living.
