    It's a 40 standard. Look at the tag on the side. Yours should read 40-S. Here is a picture of a high crop model.

    It's an M. Non running,fairly complete, I'd say $500 as it sits.

    GP carb and Mag ?

    Ensign carb for sure. I was told my 29' should have a fairbanks morse mag. It had a splitdorf when I got it. I think the brass splitdorf "looks" neater. You typically see them changed to wicos. I believe they are easier on the wallet to puchase and repair.

    Here's what my 54' 40s seat looks like. I plan on starting it's restoration this summer. It really just needs cleaned up and paint. Is the chain and pin for the top-link still available?

    Problems shifting 40U

    My 40 std's shifter is very sloppy also. I'm assuming it wasn't always like this. Maybe it's the nature of the beast. I pulled the shifter off but really can't see anything wrong. What part of Ohio are you in?

    GP john deere

    Most Gp's had 6 digit ser #'s. Orchard versions have 5. Yours may just be worn off. If 21 is the first two digits it's a late 29 or early 30.
