    706 aux hydraulics

You want to use the right hand ports (ahead of the brake pedals). They are controlled by the right hand remote leaver. The left leaver controls the ports ahead of the clutch and the single rear. Keep in mind these ports are SAE o-ring with 7/8-14 straight thread NOT 1/2" pipe.

    JD 8650

I have had to rebuild the steering cylinders on my IH 4366. The piston seal lets the oil bypass making the other cylinder do the work of two. An inexpensive place to start. Good Luck. Dave

    5488 electrical question

Before you buy a relay, check the 30 amp fuse in the fuse block. A good chance the fuse block has melted and lost contact with the blades of the fuse. Go to a car stereo shop and get a 30 amp maxi-fuse and inline holder. Remove the 2 wires from the back of the fuse block and solder the inline...

    966 No power

If it starts and runs good it's possible the governor is not comming in. Our 4366 did this a few years back. I believe it was a bad thrust washer, had the pump rebuilt and could'nt believe the difference.

IH No 1 engine oil in a Detroit Diesel

I read somewhere about using the wrong oil in a 2 stroke Detroit can cause coking around the exhaust ports. My operators manual specifies API CD-II with a sulfated ash limit ASTM D-874. IH No 1 30wt has API CF-2 CF and SL specs. Does anyone know if IH No 1 meets Detroit specs? Thanks, Dave

making power with a 450 diesel

What you want to do is not too difficult, Search the farmall board archives for the Tractor Vet's post 450D horsepower dated 10/25/2006. He has some good reading as well as spec's for the pump. Good Luck, Dave

    Torque Amplifier

Check bolt and lockwasher that retains the PTO drive gear(cover under center of tractor after cluch). I have seen this bolt come out and lock things up twice. Once on my dad"s SMD-TA, locked up while cranking with starter, lucky no damage. Second time at a dealership, a 656D had been running a...

    3rd wheel weight on a SM-TA

My Dad used the slots around the outside edge of the weight. There are two pair of slots, alternate opposing slots and stack as many as you need. Don't recall bolt length but with this method you only handle one weight at a time to line up the bolts. Good Luck, Dave

    550 MF re grain loss

Check the position of the wind boards. The thumb screws could have come loose and let them drop putting all wind to the back of the shoe.

    massey 510 combine

I ran a 510 gasser with a 350 for several years. It is a 350 Chevy 4 bolt main block. The only trouble the engine ever gave me was a wiped out camshaft at very high hours and a couple electric fuel pumps. I ran this machine until the augers were paper thin and the seals on the sides of the...
