    JD A making engine oil

    I think there is a copper bushing/seal at the PTO that if worn allows gear oil to seep into the crankcase or the other way round???? My cousin had this problem with a 48 B.

    Because a new 6v battery cost 75 bucks and this is cub that gets used in the garden to cultivate only 3 times a year.

    Maybe I should have asked if it is okay to run the gen and voltage reg with an old dead battery in place without disconnecting the wire mentioned in the farmall manual. I'm thinking as long as the charge has some place to go then it is okay.

    PTO noise

    I have a 1945 John Deere B with power lift. When the PTO is engaged the PTO shaft turns but there is an internal sound similar to a playing card placed in the spokes of a bicycle. Moreover the power lift does not work. Any thoughts?
