    Well from show experience , I really think a good paint job is all you need , for working tractors I still prefer a quality paint product. It’s up to the owners what they prefer to use .

    I don’t think welding the axle or cap is a very good option. That will change the metal grain structure of axle and cap making it weak and unusable. .

    Fixed damaged threads zenith 161 with braze and retapping . Don’t really think it’s worth the efforts, . Take time and machines. Sometimes the top plate casting cracks , fixed it with braze and retapping. Up to you ,how handy are you?
