    Some attachments for the 9N

Thanks for all the positive input. Tractor has the Sherman, I just didn't know it. Made a shifter handle for it and already had to use it in the snow. The 3 point engages with a lever on the drivers side and clutch activation. It also is controlled on the other side and I can set height from...

    Some attachments for the 9N

Sorry about the pics. I should probably have my son post them. I'm not the best with this tool. Didn't find the Zane Thang in the store. Probably did something wrong in my search. Anyone have pictures of sway bars? I will probably need something for top and bottom on the forks. I used...

    Stuck#4 exhaust guide on 9N

There is a retainer that goes into the valve guide at the top of the assembly, that theoretically would keep the guide up in the block via the pressure of the spring. Guide was pushed down in the bore and stuck there. I just made the setup to push the guide back up to where it belonged.

    Some attachments for the 9N

Will be cleaning up a bunch of timber this spring, so here are a couple pieces we have made to make the tractor more user friendly. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Steve

    Stuck#4 exhaust guide on 9N

I think during the tractors "long rest", rust and carbon on the valve stem caused it to push the guide down in the hole on start up. I've run it several hours now and it has improved to the point where I am preparing to put it to work. I took a piece of 1 inch pipe, cut it half, and pull tied...

    Stuck#4 exhaust guide on 9N

Don't see any keepers in the diagram. Just a retainer. I assume the spring is supposed to hold the guide up. I cant feel a gap or seam in the guide, making me think it is a one piece. does anyone know if the guide is indexed into the guide hole? Id hate to try pushing it up if it has to be...

    Stuck#4 exhaust guide on 9N

Getting some smoke and a bit of a ticking sound, so I pulled the inspection covers. #4 guide is hanging down in the lifter/guide valley. Valve guide bushing retainer was sitting by the lifter. Read all the stories about them not going down in the hole enough to get out the retainer, but I want...

    grapple bucket on a 9N

I wound up cutting the bucket in a C, so I could still roll logs into it. Basically cut a C into the side of the bucket and used the extra steel to reinforce the bucket sides. Also got some old pallet forks that will become a rear lifting point, and a line on a reversible rear bucket. Will...

Nice story about timing and fire problems on a 1940 Ford 9N

I had to grind down the #3 distributer post, as it was slightly contacting the rotor. This was in a petronix distributer conversion. Also, the rotor to coil pickup had broke off as well. Good for me , as the previous owner gave up on making it run. I believe there was a minor misalignment, and...

    grapple bucket on a 9N

Thanks for all the replies. I am reevaluating and I have to agree with the consensus. I would like to use what I have, but it is clear that the old 9N isn't going to do the job, regardless of what I want to glue to it. Fun to make it run and work, but I need a tool that will work on the job...

    grapple bucket on a 9N

I've got a lot more days work than what I would save with the rental. I figure I can sell the grapple when I'm done for at least $500, so $350 isn't going to get much time on a bobcat rental. Has anyone actually done this, or if not, I will provide a write-up when I'm done. BTW, I have...

    Timing Electronic Ignition on 9N

The petronix cap really seemed off center slightly to me. The rotor lightly touched the cap on the # 3 pick up. I relieved the brass pick up with a dremel and that cured my issues. I did install mine dead center on the adjustment plate. Seems to run fine now.

    grapple bucket on a 9N

I got my new to me 9N going and have been thinking about replacing the bucket out front ( on a Wagner Iron Works loader) with a grapple bucket for moving brush around my property. Has anyone done this, and any suggestions would be appreciated. There is a company out of Sheboygan that sells a...

    oil filter for 9N

Thanks for the help. A little lube, some persuasion, and its on. Waiting on a new pertonix cap, and we should be running. Steve

    oil filter for 9N

Pretty much what I figured. I'm just intrigued by the filter I pulled out. It had much better rubber sealing grommets and fit the shaft great. Had a ford part number on it, but it is a little blurred. E7NN 6744 BA That's the best I can make of it. Can't get a cross anywhere.
