    881 selectospeed filter

Check the mesh screen in the drain when you drain the fluid, if its not clogged you should be gtg, get it good and warm before you drain it though. I wouldn't risk running anything through it but the propper oil though.

    881 selectospeed filter

Don't flush it, just run it and get it good and hot, and drain it and remove the mesh screen in the bottom left side of the SOS. If you do that annually, it will clean itself out. At least that's been my experience with mine, over the last 9 years.

    Ford 4000 serial # ?

Model number shouldn't have any symbols to the left and right, if that is what you are seeing that would be a serial number instead, which would make it a 1964, the model number should be right above that.

    Ford 4000 serial # ?

I can't find that number to make sense for any ford model. Where are you finding that number on the tractor? Your Model number should be stamped into the flat surface just to the rear of the starter on the flat part. As well as a serial number, this will give you the model and year for the...

    Opinions on a 4000

Yes the band adjustment is external, no need to split the tractor to do that, and it takes maybe 30-45 mins to do, but you need the SOS manual to understand the steps, it is a bit lenghty, you can find them online fairly reasonable.

    Opinions on a 4000

I have had my SOS 4000 for 9 years now, and only had to adjust the bands once. Tranny Oil gets changed every two years for me, or when it gets cloudy, your duration may differ than mine due to the amount you may or may not use it. I love the SOS, It takes a bit to get used to it, but if...

    PTO driven roto tiller

I have a 6ft Tiller, It works awesome behind my 64 Ford 4000 Industrial with the SOS transmission, and it is tolerable to use it on the 8N so long as I have worked the ground before. I use mine on the N to break the garden open for early planting of Potatoes, Onions, Cabbage, Broccoli and...

    Implement Prices

Those prices aren't far from what I've seen over the last few years at auction, and some of the stuff at auction should have went to the scrap yard instead of the auction... New Implement Prices have driven the price of just about any shape used implement up, and if its in good shape, you can...

    OT (used log splitter)

We burn wood in two houses here every year. Have went through 2 splitters, both were the type that pivot and put the base plate on the ground so that you are not lifting every log up onto the splitter. You just pick out one nice piece and use it for a stool, and then roll the logs over onto...

    Limited Chains

It also helps with 9N/2N where it is harder to maintain cut height with no position control. We use the chains all the time with dad's 2N, but not so much with my 4000, just a difference in the hyd setup.

    starter button replacement

Function I learned a few years back, and always assumed I was the last one to learn of it... On your keyboard hold down the CTRL button and then use the scroll wheel on your mouse at the same time, will zoom the whole page in or out, helps in reading things like that article.

    Wrong top link???

I would say that most sway bars went the way of things like lights and running boards, when the tractors were new, they may have had those options, but as they broke down over the years, or had to be removed to do work, a lot of the time they probably never got put back on. I have seen far...
