    just curious

Soldiers generally fought with the sword in the right hand so the scabbard goes on the left. Mount from left to keep it clear. Probably goes back to the Romans. I remember something about the plains indians mounting from either side.

    Update on the 8N

I haven't posted for while but check this site almost daily. I just wanted to again thank everybody for the help in getting things straightened out with the 8N I purchased last summer. The tractor runs great and started easily all winter. I'm going to drive it in a local old tractor parade...

Cold Weather Start - Use of Starter Fluid

I have been following the recent thread on cold weather starting. Several responses mention using starter fluid. I've researched the forum but can't find a consensus on any disadvantages of using starter fluid. My situation - '52, 6 volt, side mount, new wiring, AL-437's, fairly new TSC 6...

    Inevitable Scope Creep

I think I am about ready to ship the carburetor to GB for a rebuild. If I am going to do that, I am thinking I ought to take the gas tank to a radiator shop for a good cleaning. So, if I have the hood off, I probably ought to have the radiator cored at the same time. Any other suggestions...

    Front Wheels

The front wheels of my '52 8N have twelve lug holes and four more holes closer to the outside of the rim. Why twelve rather than six lug holes and are the four additional holes for weights or something? Thanks.

Well I have an update. Pulled the field from Generator killed the charge. As did pulling field from the VR. So, I looked at the Ford Service Manual. Paragraph 69 provides trouble shooting guidance "A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY AND A HIGH CHARGING RATE indicate improper operation of the equipment...

OT - Seat Time for My Wife - Thanks

Well since I was at work.... Needless to say, I married better than she did. She is the smart good looking one. I'll see if I can get a pic of her at the helm this weekend.

OT - Seat Time for My Wife - Thanks

Tuesday night and Wednesday it dumped rain here. This morning my wife went down to see how her horse arena looked. She called me to let me know there was standing water in places and informed me she was going to run the arena groomer over it a few times to dry things out. Other than having to...

    Re: Oil Pressure Concern

First thanks for the answer. Background, this was a post from a few weeks ago. I reported back after following the good advice I recieved but the thread "split." Here is a little more background. "52 side mount 6 volt. I purchased it in August. Lot"s of "field engineered" solution on it...
