    straight exhaust pipe

I have an A with a straight chrome pipe and it sounds terrific. At shows, crowds gather to watch me start her. She'll fire up on the second turn(hand start) and just sit there going chumpf, chumpf, chumpf with a real deep note. When I pull away, the governor opens the throttle and she barks -...

    BN on steels

I have just bought a BN om steels. The rears are 5.5 inch wide with cast lugs and flat spokes. Perhaps more interestingly, the front is 8 inch wide with round spokes. Are these special in any way? I have not been able to find any photos anywhere. Any information would be gratefully received.

    Model B Serial Numbers

I have just bought a BN on steels. 1945 John Deere Model A

I have just done this job on my 47A. I used a half inch steel plate with 6 22mm threaded rods drilled to fit through the six holes in the hub. Put the plate on the end of the hub and the rods through the plate and the hub then tighten each in turn. A 1/6 of a turn on each is probably to much. It...

    no smoke today

On this side of the pond we use TVO - tractor vaporising oil. Not available now but I mix 1 gallon of petrol with 4 gallons of heating oil. Both the H and the A run with no problems. Its also a lot cheaper! Petrol costs 92p a litre while heating oil costs 50p a litre. The engines have to be warm...

    jd

3 friends have converted V8 Fordsons and all agree that nothing, absolutely nothing, beats the sound of my 46A on a 'straight through' pipe. At the shows people just gather in a circle around her listening to the chuff-chuff and the occasion bang as the governor speeds things up a bit. She is...
