    Piggies

I have had good luck just feeding ear corn and letting the hogs shell it and then feed the bean meal with mineral on the side at what normal percentages are for growing and then finishing. I feed just one litter at a time for family and friends. My boys love bacon, ham, and pork burgers. They...

    harvesting ear corn

I leave ear corn in wagons to grind out of and I let it dry down to at least below 18 percent. I loose some to shelling but I would rather do that then make moldy feed. I thought about making a fan shroud that would fit on the wagon and you could open the door and force air with a blower to...

    corn planting depth

I have planted that deep just to get into some moisture but I am on sand and the 1" or 2" on top will be dust if it has not rained for a week. In decent ground it would not be that dry unless it did not rain for a month. This is also in May not in April when everybody has to start.

Corn borer control in large garden

The only way I know how to control it is to spray multiple times as it just starts to silk all they way up to silks are dry. Some customers are very picky at farmers markets. They don't want anything sprayed but think a beautiful filled out ear of sweet corn is garbage because it has on little...

    So, has the dust settled?

That's what I like to do. I am using 5 different tractors and working on a 6th. If I do have a breakdown the tractors and implements interchange and I keep going.

Not so sweet, sweet corn revisited

Good deal. Did it just need a little more time to ripen? Was it still all white or did it turn yellow as it ripened?

    US Maps

I think it is amazing to think of all the work that it took to build the largest economy in the world and millions upon millions of acres that were put into some kind of production. Not to mention that most of the work was done by manual labor and beasts of burden up until recent history.
