    801?

I do not see a Select-O-Speed shifter. Not an 801 without one.

Mower responds to the control lever, I use the depth stop on the control. When it goes down, I can raise it and put it back to the stop and within seconds it sags down again. All the way up it is fine, never drops. I only have problems in the "control range".

    3 pt lift

Had a dumb moment, kept thinking about how to put a gauge wheel on the front of the mower, never thought about chaining up the arms. That may be my short run solution. I am retiring in 8 days, have more time (hopefully) for a correct fix after that.

    3 pt lift

Seems to be the time everyone is having their issues, guess I may as well add mine. I have an 801 and the arms drift down under load. I use the tractor on a brush hog and I cannot keep the front of the mower out of the dirt. The draft lever is horizontal which I believe is "Position". The...

    801 Power Steering

Oil was cold, the fact that the PS does work with no load, does this say the control valves are OK? I have not loosened a cylinder to see if I can move it by hand. This is likely a next step rather than getting into the steering column? As I stated previously, with the loader on and the SOS...

    801 Power Steering

Finally had time last weekend to get a gauge on the PS pump, had 800 PSI @ 1000 RPMs. Here is a recap of where I am at: 1. Occurred suddenly, lost power steering 2. Power steering does operate when front wheels are off the ground 3. Gauge check of pressure is 800 PSI. Any suggestions where...

    801 Power Steerig

Your assembly makes sense, I anticipated the pump would have to be deadheaded, but I hated to spin the pump while starting the tractor and etc. Has to be a lot of heat generated. I have a couple of lost weekends coming up so I won't get to it right away but at least now I know where I am going...

Can someone describe the proper procedure to check the output pressure of the PS pump? Is there a tap on the side of the pump?

    801 Ford Power Steering

Do you deadhead the pump with a pressure gauge to check or parallel the HP line with a tap? Thanks for the replies.

I had the pump apart last fall and replaced the seals. Pretty simple roller pump, I doubt that it is the problem. Seals for the rams available? Would they be OEM only or are they common parts?

    801 Ford Power Steering

Time to get serious, I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery and I tried to use the tractor to mow with Saturday. It was not a pretty picture. The tractor has an industrial loader so if I raise the front tires with the loader, the PS works. When the wheels are on the ground, it is virtually...

Cylinders rebuildable? Is there anyway to make a definate determination?

    801 Power Steering

Long time reader, first time on the board. I have an 801 Ford that has never left the farm. Last fall I put new seals in the PS pump as it was leaking at the shaft. I refilled the resevoir with PS fluid. This tractor sits a lot, used for cutting wood, plowing gardens and etc. Yesterday I...
