Can someone describe the proper procedure to check the output pressure of the PS pump? Is there a tap on the side of the pump?

I don't know a proper or correct procedure, but I know the pump has to be "deadheaded" to put all the pressure over the relief valve in order to measure the pressure it will build. Here under the shade tree we use a loop between the output port and the return port with a gauge and a ball valve.

Disconnect the lines from the pump and connect the gauge loop. With the pump running the fluid is circulating through the loop. Slowly close the ball valve blocking the flow and read the pressure on the gauge. I think the specs call for about 1100 psi, but if you can get 750 or more you will probably have plenty of power assist to help you steer.

.

Hello John , 800 psi. for the All Purpose AG tractors and Light Duty Industrial tractors , 1100 psi. for the Heavy Duty Industrial tractors with Drag Link Steering , and 1300 psi. for the Heavy Duty Industrial tractors with cable steering . Thanks Tony

Your assembly makes sense, I anticipated the pump would have to be deadheaded, but I hated to spin the pump while starting the tractor and etc. Has to be a lot of heat generated. I have a couple of lost weekends coming up so I won't get to it right away but at least now I know where I am going.

Thanks for your help.
