    Allis d12 anybody got one?

I have a D-12 series 3. Owned it since mid 80’s. Needed a clutch when I bought it. Replaced the clutch and been going ever since. I have had to do maintenance of course but no major problems since. Did have an issue with the steering gearbox. Not sure what happened. It was loaned out when the...

    Ford 555D rear differential

I finally got the rearend torn down. Found all 3 planetary gears broken in several pieces. The short shaft has damaged teeth. Cost from New Holland for parts is $3184. I found a complete rearend from a salvage yard for $1750. Looks like that’s the way I will go.

    Ford 555D rear differential

Thanks again. I have been looking at this and reading what info I can find online. I have the service manual for the tractor. It says to remove the hoe. I didn’t want to remove it if not necessary. I was thinking that I could pull the left axle housing without removing the hoe. Thanks for...

    Ford 555D rear differential

I haven’t done anything as far as troubleshooting goes. I would guess the low oil level caused the problem. I can’t figure out why the oil level is extremely high in the transmission and extremely low in the rear end. It’s almost as if the oil from the rear end moved to the transmission. I...

    Ford 555D rear differential

I have a Ford 555D backhoe/loader. It does not get used much, probably a couple times a month, maybe for an hour or so, sometimes more. It is used just for personal use. No public work. I recently started to use the unit and it was going to only be for a few minutes. I drove it about 100 yards...

    Super C Erratic Misfire

Had the same problem with my tractorAllis Chalmers. After much head scratching and trying different things, I found 1 of the terminals on the coil was loose. The stud for the hot wire would turn inside the coil. I replaced the coil and have not had any problems since. HTH. Avery

    Diesel engine revs

I have a Ford 555D backhoe. The engine will rev up slightly then drops make to the original rpm after a few seconds. It does this at idle and at operating speed. It only last for a few seconds- maybe 3 - 5 seconds and then returns to it?s original rpm. I have changed the fuel filter and looked...

Dang. I left off part of my message. My tractor has a Ross gearbox. Tractor serial number is 9157. AGCO parts says the gearbox?s changed at serial number 9001. What part of the country are you in?

    AC D12 steering

I am located in southern Mississippi about 90 miles from the gulf coast. My D12 is a series III. The information I am getting said the gear boxes on the D12 changed at serial number 9001. But what I don?t know is - can I replace the complete gearbox with a gearbox from an earlier model D12...

    AC D12 steering

Thanks for the reply. I suspected this might not work or other folks would be doing it. I should have said hydrostatic steering instead of power steering - I am not real familiar with all the terminology. Thanks again Avery

    AC D12 steering

The steering went out on my D12. I opened the steering gearbox and found the stud that engages the worm gear is sheared off. I am considering trying to install power steering on this tractor. Is it possible to use the tractor hydraulics - the same pump that powers the 3 point hitch - for the...
