ford 641 rough start in cold weather

I should clarify. When the tractor is cold and having trouble starting, the plugs are black and wet. Once its running and up to temp then the plugs are nice and clean and tan.

ford 641 rough start in cold weather

Hi all. Any tips on starting my 641 gas motor when it's cold outside. This is my first winter with it, so I'm still learning. Once the tractor does finally start it runs like a top. No smoke at idle or under load coming out the tail pipe. When it first fires it pours gray smoke until it...

641 Starting issue after cleaning bendix/carb

I pulled the starter back out...stared at it....went "hmmm". Then I put it back in and it sounded normal and the tractor started right up. Go figure..

641 Starting issue after cleaning bendix/carb

So the tractor was running well but occasionally the float needle would stick. So I took the carb apart and cleaned it up and installed a new needle and seat. I also changed oil and figured while I was at it I would remove the starter and clean up the bendix that has been sticking as well...

Showcrop - can you elaborate on your use of JB weld to fix the pitting. Like you said, I have some minor pitting at the midpoint of the rod.

    641 with loader rehabbed pics

Not a restoration but I did put a bit of work into her to make it reliable for snow removal. I live at 8500ft so compression is much lower than you folks down low. 120psi at sea level is equivalent to about 92 psi at my place. That said, it was 12 degrees sunday morning. It was sitting...

641 Front end loader uneven lift

I have a superior font end loader on my 641. It's got a front mounted pump off the crank shaft pulley. In general the hydraulics seem to work quite well. However, the right side lift arm raises AND falls slower than the left. The two bucket curl hydraulics work perfect. The seal on that...
