    1855, decals and all

Very nice work! Not a fan of the chromed straight pipe though, I like the original style muffler exhausts.

    1650 - warm PTO housing

Thanks for the input guys. I'd say it was about 130-140F by touch.

    1650 - warm PTO housing

Noted last night as I was cutting the last of my hay that the PTO housing on my 1650, particularly the cover above the PTO shaft, was significantly warmer than the gear case. The shaft also seemed warm as I disconnected the mower PTO. I would not say that these were hot, I could hold my hand...

    jd 8300 drill

The JD 8300 grain drill can make a fantastic bean seeder. There were two types of meters for that drill, the ordinary fluted style, and a much more accurate and reliable meter for larger seeds called a double-run. I have seen farmers come out way ahead with drilled beans versus not. The faster...

Late reply to AMNION 1655 diesel

Thanks Cleon! So the sleeve is welded to the filter itself? Lucky that the trans oil filter doesn't need to be changed often!

    1750 hydraulics

To add to what John said, you also need to have the return hose plugged into the return port on the hydraulic unit. The restrictor valve only applies to the return port. If you turn the restrictor valve in and the loader still blows the relief when being lowered, switch the hoses in the couplers...

    1655 Diesel

Good idea on the low oil pressure warning light! Where are you checking the transmission oil pressure? My 1750 has an original engine oil pressure gauge that goes to 80psi. It is a late 1750 though. Usually goes to 60, then hangs around 40-45 like yours does.

    Antifreeze Facts

Actually, it is somewhat "special" water. The mixes usually contain distilled and de-ionized water. I run regular distilled, about $.89 from the grocer.

    fuel gauge

If it jumps from empty to full, you have a short to ground somewhere between the fuel gauge and the sender. If it jumps from 1/4 to 3/8 tank, that's just the fuel sloshing around in the tank.

    1655 Diesel

Yeah, the 1755 and up had the new WFE dash and platform. The 1655 and 1555 were the same as the 50 series with the addition of a 55 grill and hood trim.

Red lamp to indicate the key is ON? Another pressure gauge for fuel?

    1755 hydraulic line

Late 50 series and most, if not all, 55 series tractors do not have a throwout bearing you can grease. The hydraulic unit should not empty onto the floor. You could cap the fitting after removing the hose just in case it does let some oil out. You could also cap/plug the case if you need to...

    1750 diesel head gasket replacement

J- Interesting. Let me know what "other places" you're talking about, email enabled for this post. Go ahead and send the head gasket checklist you have.

    1750 diesel head gasket replacement

... Also, I have run the engine with the radiator cap off, no air bubbles appear. And there does not appear to be any coolant getting into the crankcase at this point, none of that white/tan paste showing up at the oil filler hole and on the dipstick. The exhaust also runs clean, only a little...
