1750 hydraulics

I wonder if someone could explain to me how to adjust the hydraulics on a 1750, the problem I have is with the loader, on the way down its real choppy, and it gets worse with any kind of weight. I dont have a manual, and I know I should, But I want to take care of this asap before I break something. Thanks

Your restrictor valve needs adjustment. It is located in the top hydraulic cover right under the seat. Due to a design change the adustment my be covered with a nut which was used to help prevent leakage. Find where the back hose on the left side is threaded into the hydraulic unit and go straight up. There should be a nut sticking out (takes a 9/16th wrench) or if still the old style a slotted screw. If you have the external nut remove it and the slotted screw will be there. You need to turn it in until the loader action is smooth. In theory the weight of the material in the loader bucket is forcing the loader down. You want the tractor's hydraulic system to "push the bucket down" Confused? Post a phone number.

To add to what John said, you also need to have the return hose plugged into the return port on the hydraulic unit. The restrictor valve only applies to the return port. If you turn the restrictor valve in and the loader still blows the relief when being lowered, switch the hoses in the couplers and you should be good to go.

My 1750 does the same thing, but my loader isn't plumbed into power beyond, its hooked to the right side remotes.

Will this fix still work?

Yes. The purpose of the restrictor valve is to enable the operator to have a smooth rate of drop from the weight on the cylinder(s). Different loads require different settings.

Well It worked, I had to adjust the screw on both sides, But now the loader is smooth on the way down, and I can dump the loaded bucket without it being so jerky.
