    the first time this happened, I flattened the ring back out on an anvil, reassembled, and topped off with oil. Both times, I bush hog about 3 hours and it starts wobbling and leaking.

    Greetings and thanks for all of the help so far. Once again this is a 194? 2N that was given to me. I had the starter rebuilt and finally have it turning over with no fire. I bought a tune up kit with rotor button, wires, plugs and points. Don't laugh too hard, but I've never set points...

    Thanks for the advice, Mr Cooke. I've contacted my rebuilder about the starter. I do have the oval radius rods so it looks like I have a 2n. That helps out.....too bad I can't read the serial number.

    As far as I can tell, it's all original. When I picked it up, the farmer said it was 6V. Looking at it, it has no EI has original starter and generator. I tried tapping the starter with a hammer and it won't fully engage.
