    I am thinking that the holes were cut to free the clutch or something...I am going to put a camera in it today to see. It is a 74 based on the data I have received from other folks....maybe a 73 also.

    It’s actually the pan behind the oil pan so hopefully that helps.

    Does anyone know why someone would cut square holes in the bottom of the pan under the seat on the tractor? I took the heads off because it was seized and full of water. I poured some diesel in the flywheel area where the starter goes in and it came out the bottom. I then took a look to find out...

    It’s a 4 cylinder diesel. 74 seems appropriate, however I wouldn't doubt it being a little newer either. Thank you for the information.
